Ronald Sterling, 7: Beloved Son from Amityville Amityville elementary public school student, Ronald Sterling died after a long term illness August 5, 2007 in Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 7-years-old and always had a smile on his face despite the fact he was fighting a debilitating disease said his family. Born January 13, 2000 in Mineola to Cassandra Sterling, he bravely spent his life fighting an inherited disease, Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome, that kept his body from fighting infections. According to those who loved him, he adored to get dressed up to go to church and just being a typical child. He was well-known for his sweettooth that was the topic of a song written for him by Songs of Love, a non- profit organization that records songs for critically ill children. He leaves behind his mother, Cassandra of Amityville; his stepfather, Brian Wright; his grandmother, Yvane Elizee; his step grandfather, Harold Elizee; his aunts and uncles: Veronica and Khristy Laguerre, Rudy Guerrier and Fritze Douge; his "second grandmother," Laura Valerino; his #1 doctor, Gustavo Del Toro; his nanny, Cynthia Brown; his godfather, Marvin Longuefosse; as well as many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his 4- year-old brother, Caiirell and his godfather, Steve Longuefosse.
Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. Bernadette Watkins at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on August 11, 2007. Interment followed in Amityville Cemetery.
