Jack Burns: 72, former New York State Trooper

Retired New York State Trooper John F. "Jack" Burns who lived inLindenhurst for many years died July 31, 2007 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. He was 72 years old.

Born May 7, 1935 in Brooklyn to Harold and Elsie (Haerer), he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. For 40 years he lived in Lindehurst.

He worked as a a NewYork State Trooper based in Mamaroneck for 20 years until his retirement in 1976. He also worked as a packaging designer for J.J. Williams in Farmingdale and was a wellknown area softball umpire.

Mr. Burns leaves behind his daughter: Brandi and her husband Ronald Drinkwine of Ballston Spa, New York; his grandson, Brett; and his brother, Robert of Baldwin Harbor.

The Reverend Dr. Louise Stowe-Johns, pastor, First United Methodist Church in Amityville, officiated at the Funeral Service held August 3, 2007 at the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville. Private cremation followed.
