Melissa Smith to wed Robert Locke

The parents of Robert A. Locke and Melissa A. Smith announce the engagement of their children.

Melissa A. Smith, of Amityville, is a summa cum laude graduate of Nassau Community College with a degree in social science. She is currently attending Dowling College studying psychology as her major and sociology as her minor. Melissa will be going to The University of Central Florida for her MBA in psychology. She is a member of the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Rotary club, The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and on the dean's list at Dowling College. She is currently working for the Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown. The bride elect is the daughter of Kathy and Bill Smith of

Amityville and the granddaughter of the Emmy winner Anthony Versley and the late Gwenn Versley of Virginia.

Robert A. Locke is the son of Morgan and Michael Avila of East Rockaway. Robert graduated with an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration State License. He is employed with the Local 638 for A/C and Refrigeration in Westbury. He is the grandson of Olga Williams and the late Bill Williams (author), formerly of East Rockaway.

The couple plans to exchange marriage vows and take a honeymoon cruise in June 2008.
