DAR holds annual philanthropies luncheon

Col. Gilbert Potter Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual philanthropies luncheon at the Southward Ho County Club, Bay Shore.

The speaker was Pat Hogeboom, author of Idle Hours: The Grace and the Glory. A history of the Oakdale, New York Vanderbilt family, followed by a book signing, enjoyed by all.

Plans are underway for the annual pilgrimage which this year will be to the Sayville Nautical Museum followed by lunch at the John Thomas Inn of Brightwaters.

A patriotic exhibit will be for the month of September at the sidewalk display window of the Amityville Historical Society on Broadway.
