Patrick William Downey: '59 Amityville High School Graduate

Former Copiague resident Patrick William Downey died June 17, 2007 in Victoria, Canada. The minister and animal lover was 65 years old.

Born in Copiague to Charles William and Leona Marie on October 9, 1941, he graduated from Amityville High School in 1959. He lived on Copiague Place for many years, before moving to Victoria, Canada in the 1970s.

According to his sister, Catherine, he was a social worker, a Reverend of the Mother Hamilton teachings in Canada and a longtime volunteer.

Mr. Downey leaves behind his children: Sean and his wife Anne-Marie, Michael and Aja; his grandchildren: Jaime, Bryce and Logan; and his siblings: Charles, Josephine Laieta and his twin, Catherine Collura. He was predeceased by his sister, Leona De Ridder.

A celebration of his life was held July 14, 2007 at First Memorial Funeral Services, Victoria, Canada. Cremation was private.
