New condo complex underway in Amityville
BY CAROLYN JAMES

Real estate developers Wilbur F. Breslin and Robert A. Curcio held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of their latest residential project, Newpointe Estates. The complex of 132 condominium units includes an inground pool, a centralized plaza, and community building with kitchen and recreation room. It is located on the south side of Louden Avenue between County Line Road and Route 110.

"We have had a good working relationship with the developers and this project makes sense for a lot of reasons," said Mayor Peter T. Imbert. "It is across from what is essentially commercial property, between County Line Road and Route 110 and provides a significant buffer to a few residents on Sterling Place who are closest to it."

In addition, Imbert pointed out that the developers deeded four acres of the site to the Village and installed state of the art ballfields. "Before that the fields in that area were on loan to us and were not as nice as what is there now," said the Mayor.

The site is also expected to generate approximately $550,000 in real property taxes for the Town and the Village. The units should be selling for approximately 350,000 to $400,000, according to Jerry O'Neill, the sales director for the project.

The units, some of which are for senior citizens, will have 9-foot ceilings and full basements. Second floor units have cathedral ceilings and all units have two full bathrooms, carpeting and ceramic tile, wood cabinets and Kitchen Aid applicances. The project will be built in two phases.
