Under glorious skies, and with heads held high, Amityville Memorial High School's Class of 2007 celebrated the culmination of four years of hard work as they graduated from a district that served them well, and gave them the foundation for success. For this year's graduating class, the Regents Diploma rate of 86 percent is the highest in the history of the school, and 89 percent of the graduating class is moving on to pursue higher education.
"Our graduates have risen to the highest levels of achievement," stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian DeSorbe. "To the world, I proclaim: be prepared! Amityville is coming!"
After the presentation of colors by the American Legion Post 1015 and Auxiliary, the Hunter- Squires-Jackson Post 1218 American Legion and Auxiliary, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7223, the High School Band, under the direction of Christopher Blount, led the audience in the National Anthem. Dr. Scott Andrew, Amityville Memorial High School Principal, gave a fond farewell to his students in his opening remarks, reminding them to "take the time to love and be loved, because this is the secret to success." Graduating Seniors Patrick Boursiquot and Genovia Lindo said goodbye to high school through an interpretive dance for the audience to enjoy, and graduate Angelique Griffith expressed her sentiments through her original poem, "In September." Board of Education President Michele Sikhrangkur also shared poetry with the graduates, reminding them to "dream big."

Through tears, Valedictorian Jessica Hernandez thanked all those who were a part of her growth and success throughout her high school career. Class of 2007 President Sherris Joiner reminded the audience, "Our small Town has produced so many individuals of distinction. We must not forget where we came from."
