Mike James Day to be held at Bolden Mack Park July 28

The Annual Mike James Day (MJD) will be held at Bolden Mack Park, Great Neck Road off Route 110 in Amityville, Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In 2005 the Suffolk County city officials handed the 2004 NBA Champion the keys to the city. After James' financial donation to assist with revitalizing the court, the park was officially renamed, The Mike James Court at Bolden Mack Park.

The MJD is held annually, the last Saturday of July at the park. This year partners Office of Minority Health, the office of Legislator Elie Mystal and the Town of Babylon Parks and Recreation Department and will provide a voter's registration drive, free immunizations, free glaucoma screenings and more.

The MJD will bring "old school" hip-hop back to the community with the legendary Chubb Rock, Sirius Radio DJ Dana Dane, Master Gee n Wonder Mike formerly of the Sugar Hill Gang, Special Ed and Just Ice. HBO will be on hand to tape this history making performance. Gospel sensation The McClurkin's will entertain as well.

The Mike James Day is a Grassroots effort that seeks to bring together Suffolk County residents, community leaders, city officials and businesses to develop ideas that assist with providing safe neighborhoods, eliminating health disparities and promoting healthy families. This free community event engages members of the community to provide resourceful information, food and live entertainment to a very diverse audience.
