Clara Kelly: North Amityville missionary and loving mother Clara Belle Kelly, a woman of great faith and an active missionary for Zion Gospel Church in Copiague, died April 24, 2007. She was 84 years old. Born October 7, 1922 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Minnie McCombs-Parker and Ollie Parker, she moved to Staten Island, New York in her teens. In 1941 she married her husband William H., and the couple raised their six children in Harlem, before moving to Holt Street in North Amityville in 1954. Mrs. Kelly was a leader in her church, and served as a missionary, usher president, evangelist and in many other roles. She was well known for handing out gospel tracts, and making her delicious homemade ice cream for the annual church bazaar. She leaves behind her children: Rev. Dr. William H., Jr., Deacon Richard D. Esq. and his wife Deacon Kilcha, Minister Michael C. and his wife Deacon Carol M., George P. and Elder Nancy K. Gibson; her daughter in-law, Ruth Ann; her grandchildren: Minister Antonio, Elder John, Arlina Amanios, Lea Foster, Michael II, Alexis and Jonathan. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William H.
She reposed at the J.F. Goode Funeral Home in Amityville. A Funeral Mass was held on May 5, 2007 at the Zion Gospel Church, Copiague, followed by in- terment in the LongIsland National Cemetery at Pinelawn.
