Athletic Notebook

Here's a look at the latest sports action for the schools in the coverage area of the Beacon and Record (all facts and figures as of May 14):

Amityville

The baseball team is 1-15 and hasn't won a game since April 18, its only win of the season. Most games this season have been blowouts, but the, 11-10, win over West Hampton, shows the team can win if they try.

Copiague

The softball and boys' lacrosse teams have won just two games and the girls' lacrosse team has won one.

Sam Dipietros hit a walk-off single to give the Eagles' softball team its second win of the season, an 8-7 victory over Bellport.

Joe Jacobia scored four goals and had four assists in a, 15-4, win over Hempstead on May 4 for the boys' lacrosse team. It was their first and only win of the season thus far. Since then, they lost, 14-13, to Deer Park and, 8- 7, to Riverhead.
