Frances Becker: Former Amityville resident
by Tiffany Elliott

Frances Laura Becker, a loving mother and homemaker who lived in Amityville for five decades, died April 13, 2007 at the Britthaven of Pamlico Health Care Home near Oriental, North Carolina. She was 90 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Amityville after she and her husband Joseph were married and the couple raised their children here. She had lived on Grand Central Avenue for more than 50 years before moving to Oriental, North Carolina six years ago to be closer to family.

According to her son, Joseph, she loved Amityville, gardening and the waters of the Great South Bay. "They were the windows to her world," he said.

Mrs. Becker leaves behind her sons: Joseph and Richard and their wives Christa and Betty; her grandchildren: Brent and Karen and their families; and her sister, Geraldine Lennon. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Joseph. A private ceremony was held in North Carolina by her family.
