Stern secures funding to create park for children with disabilities

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD recently joined Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone and other elected officials to break ground for a new park for children with disabilities. The park will provide a safe and accessible place for children to play. The play area will be approximately 3,500 square feet with a rubber surface, featuring five slides, climber ladders and climbing walls, ramps, telephone tubes, tunnels, net climbers, covered balconies, mirrors, games, and a swing set. The playground will be constructed in compliance

with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

"This playground will provide a fun and safe place for children with disabilities to play and for their families to gather in a comfortable and secure environment. I will always be strongly committed to providing services to children with disabilities and their families and believe this playground will benefit not only these children but the entire community," said Legislator Stern.
