Longtime Amityville resident Perry Davenport, 74

Longtime Amityville resident Perry W. Davenport died April 21, 2007 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. He was 74 years old.

Born April 20, 1933 in East New York to Perry and Margaret (Hall), he served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1961.

He spent his career in telecommunications as a foreman for NYNEX in Lindenhurst. He was a longtime member and council treasurer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Sunrise Fish and Game Association.

Mr. Davenport leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Marilyn; his children: Perry W., Susan May-Davis, Lynn and John; his grandchildren: Dale May, Cortney May, Nicholas May, Harley Davis, Bethany and Tyler Hartman.

A prayer service was conducted April 26, 2007 by Rev. David W. Anglin, who also officiated at the Funeral Service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Amityville. Interment followed in Calverton National cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Inc., Amityville.
