Catherine Campe, 93, Broadlawn Manor resident

Catherine V. Campe, who lived for the last eight years at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home in Amityville, died April 22, 2007. She was 93 years old.

Born January 11, 1914 to Jacob and Sarah (Holt) Hengerle in New York City, she spent a great deal of her life in Parsippany, New Jersey. Besides taking care of her family, she worked as a computer operator at Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey and at Catholic Charities in New York City. She was also an active fundraiser for Deborah Heart & Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey.

Mrs. Campe leaves behind her children: Joan Krusen of Poughkeepsie, New York, Patricia Persico of Amityville and Charles of San Diego, California; her nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her brother, Vincent Hengerle of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Charles; and her sisters, Grace Weisenberger and Virginia Skiff.

Father Richard T. Stetler, pastor of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family on April 24, 2007. Interment followed in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in East Hanover, New Jersey. Arrangements were under the the directions of Powell Funeral Home, Amityville.
