Lois Jean Salzman Moore: 21-year Amityville resident

During the years she lived in Amityville, Lois Jean Pfaff Salzman Moore was a woman committed to community. She was a member of the Amityville Women's Club, the Flower Club and American Legion. She was a member of the Friends of the Amityville Library and of the Fire Auxiliary in Amityville where her husband served as a member of the Fire Police.

"She was a wonderful person and a great lady who loved her community," said Lore Waegerle, a longtime friend of Mrs. Moore's.

For many years, her husband worked for the Village of Amityville as its Assessor.

Mrs. Moore, who lived in Amityville from 1970 to 1991, died April 5, 2007 at her Marietta, Ohio home. She was 81-years-old and moved to Ohio, where she had been born and raised, following her retirement.

Born to Floyd A. Pfaff and Mildred Alexander Pfaff in Marietta, Ohio, she worked as an operator for Ohio Bell and as an assistant Dean of Women at Marietta College. In addition to her local associations, she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and the Eastern Star for 60-plus years.

Mrs. Moore leaves behind her children: H. David Salzman of Marietta, Ohio and Patricia A. Best and her husband Richard "Benny" of Orlando, Florida; her grandchildren: John G. Zahnleuter of Orlando, Florida and Ashley Moore of Lancaster, California; her brother, David B. Pfaff and his wife Gisela of Marietta, Ohio; her step-son, Gordon H. Moore and his wife Nancy of Lancaster, California; her nephews: Christopher F. Pfaff of Indianapolis, Indiana and Alexander R. Pfaff and his wife Janelle of Marietta, Ohio; her longtime friend, Joan Sutton Pritchard of Marietta, Ohio; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Harry R. Salzman; her second husband Gordon H. Moore; and her granddaughter: Linnie A. Moore.

Mrs. Moore reposed at the Hadley Funeral Home, Marietta, Ohio, on April 7 and 8, 2007. Funeral Services were held on April 9, 2007 with Rev. Craig Butler officiating. Burial followed in Putnam Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.
