Amityville High School student wins scholarship
Alicia Weathers, of Amityville Memorial High School, won a $1,000 scholarship from the Long island Mathematics Conference Board. There were many applicants for the scholarship. The Long Island Mathematics Conference Board said Weathers won the scholarship because of her excellent academic record in high school and a commitment to mathematics.
The check was given to Weathers on March 16 at the k,keynote session of the LIMACON Conference for Mathematics. The keynote address was given by Dr. Cathy Seeley, immediate past president, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The awards ceremony was held at SUNY Old Westbury.
