Power Squadron installs new officers

The Great South Bay Power Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons has installed its new officers for 2007-2008. The Change of Watch meeting was on Friday, February 16 at the Rusy-Bohm American Legion Post, Nassau Avenue, Islip.

Joseph Milano Sr. of West Islip was installed as squadron commander. Also installed with commander Milano was Joseph V. Gagliano of Islandia, who will be executive officer; Michael Becker of Holbrook as squadron educational officer; Gary LaMarca of West Islip as administrative officer; Vivian L. McCourt of Ronkonkoma as secretary, Luann Kazanecki of East Islip as treasurer and Squadron Past Commander Peter Richichi of Oakdale as assistant educational officer.

Commander Milano is a Squadron Advanced Pilot of the United States Power Squadrons. He has served as the executive officer over this past year. His previous Squadron responsibilities include administrative officer, member of the executive committee and Basic Boating Course chairman. Milano has received the following education advancements and awards in the Squadron: Skipper Award, Educational Proficiency Award in 2005 and South Shore Inter-Squadron Predicted Log contest - First Place, 2005. Commander Milano is also a senior member of the United States Power Squadrons.
