J.P. Skelly accepts honors on behalf of KORN

The KORN News Department captured five 2006 Eric Sevareid Awards of Merit from Northwest Broadcast News Association. News Director J.P. Skelly, a 1974 graduate of Copiague High School, accepted the honors March 24th at the annual NBNA awards banquet.

KORN earned the awards in general reporting and broadcast writing for its coverage of the Kelly Dean Boyer murder trial. The station was also recognized in the talk/public affairs category for "Inside State Government," a weekly discussion of legislative issues that airs during the

annual law-making session.

This is the eighth consecutive year that KORN has been honored by NBNA. "The Sevareid Awards are a competition between radio and television stations in the six-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska," said News director J.P. Skelly. "I'm thrilled that KORN is among the best."

Skelly also served as NBNA president in 2006.
