Three O'Connell High School varsity basketball players mark major milestone with 1,000 career pts.

players each marked a major milestone by scoring their 1,000th career point. The points bonanza began when girls varsity sophomore Ieasia Walker scored her 1,000th point on January 27 during the team's win against West Babylon. "Ieasia has a complete skill package, both offensively and defensively," said girls varsity basketball Coach Carole Olsen. "She has a great court vision."

Sophomore Gabrielle Gibson was the next to make her mark in Copiague history during the Lady Eagles' win versus West Islip. "Gabrielle is a dynamic guard with multiple offensive skills and is an intense defender," stated Ms. Olsen. "Together, Ieasia and Gabrielle are one of the best one-two punch in Long Island high school girls basketball."

The final player to hit his milestone was Richard Bryd, a senior on the Boys Varsity Basketball Team. Richard scored his 1,000th point on February 6 in Copiague's win versus Newfield. "Richard has always shown signs of being a gifted athlete, and he has worked very hard to develop his talent," said boys varsity basketball coach, Steve Rebholz. "He continues to have a work ethic that is second to none."
