+Matthew Casserly, of Amityville, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester at the University of Vermont, Burlington. Casserly, a French major, is a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences.

+Named to the dean's list at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York for the fall 2006 semester are Brian T. Carroccio, Laura E. Hickey and Kerri A. Mannino of Amityville and Damian C. Caputo and Megan A. White of Copiague.

+Copiague resident Mel Pilar Espaillat is the recipient of the 2006 Dr. Colin Goddard Scholarship which is presented to minority students who show exceptional promise in biology or chemistry. She is a bioscience major who was selected to participate in the Arthritis Foundation Summer Fellowship in biology and undeclared studies. She also received the Campus Spirit Award which means she was an outstanding contributor to campus life through her membership in the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-STEP) and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
