CSD music program among top 100 in country
The American Music Conference, in its eighth annual Best 100 Communities for Music Education survey, has selected the Copiague School District as one of the best school districts in the nation for music education.

"We are very proud to have the hard work of our teachers and the dedication of our students acknowledged through such a major public distinction," stated Andrew H. Poprilo, district coordinator of fine and technical arts. "This honor is the culmination of the synergy between a supportive Board of Education, visionary administration, talented teachers, and involved parents."

Throughout the year, the District participates in a plethora of musical events and activities. Below is a snapshot of what the District's highly talented musicians have accomplished over the years.

+State Championship High School Marching Band (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006)

+Award-winning High School Madrigal Choir

+Outstanding participation in NYSSMA Solo Festivals at all levels

+High Participation Rate in NYSSMA All-State performing groups at all levels.

+Regionally acclaimed High School Musical Theatre Productions

+Supportive Band Boosters Club for parents of music students

+A talented, dedicated, and committed staff

+After-school Middle School musical ensembles, including Jazz Band, Chamber Singers, Wind Ensemble, and Musical Productions

+Strong representation in the Suffolk County Music Education All-County ensembles

"This national recognition is a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Board of Education, staff, and community," added Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Bolton. "We are all very proud of our talented student musicians and all that they have accomplished to make the district's outstanding music program a source of community pride."

The American Music Conference is a national non-profit music education advocacy association dedicated to supporting the importance of music education and music research with students and with members of the general public.
