Albert Ossana: James Street Players Theater Member
by Tiffany Elliott

Longtime Bay Shore resident Albert Charles Ossana loved the theater. He'd frequently go into Manhattan to see plays and although could not be persuaded to act on stage, he was active behindthe scenes as a member of the James Street Players community theater group in Babylon. Mr. Ossana died January 26, 2007 at the age of 74. According to his wife he was designated "chief curtain puller" for the playhouse.

Born in Brooklyn, he resided in the Bronx before moving to Bay Shore where he lived for 44 years. After 30 years, he retired as a chief inspector for H2M Engineering, a water systems company in Melville.

Mr. Ossana was a proud veteran who served in the military police in Berlin during the Korean Conflict. He remained close to a British officer he met during his time in the service.

He was an avid golfer and bowler who volunteered his time to the Bay Shore Food Pantry. He loved to travel and spend time with his beloved family.

Mr. Ossana leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Geraldine; his children: Laura Vogelsberg and her husband Karl of Smithtown, Richard and his wife Josephine of Maryland and Steven and his wife Susan of Bay Shore; his grandchildren: Tyler, Angela, Maxx, Vincent, River, Ethan and Searra.

He reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on January 27 and 28, 2007. A Religious Service was held at the funeral home on January 29 followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery.
