Athanase Voscopoulos: Massapequa resident

Massapequa resident Athanase Voscopoulos died at New Island Hospital, Bethpage on January 24, 2007. He was 64 years old.

Born March 16, 1942 in Jerusalem, he emigrated to the United States in the mid 1950s. He was employed by the J.C. Penney Corp. Inc. as a truck driver.

"He was a great person and a wonderful Papu," said his daughter Christina Grittani. "He spent a lot of time with them and gave them anything they wanted."

Mr. Voscopoulos leaves behind his mother Aliki Voscopoulos; his daughter, Christina Grittani; his grandchildren: Alyssa Dora and Anthony Paul Grittani; his brother Ermes Voscopoulos; as well as other loved ones. He was predeceased by his father, Paul A. and brother, Paul George.

A prayer service was held at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on January 28, 2007. Father Jim Calogredes, St. Nicholas Church, officiated at the funeral service on January 29, 2007 followed by interment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
