Ready to roll

We were out late on Sunday as weather reports indicated a s n o w - storm was h e a d e d our way. As we d r o v e a r o u n d , we saw m a n y highway department trucks from the Town and Villages in Babylon. It was consoling to know that our officials and the highway department employees were ready to tackle the job.

Once again, our streets were salted, sanded and cleared quickly and were safe for drivers and pedestrians. With a little help from Mother Nature on Monday, all were passable.

This kind of a response, however, does not happen overnight. It takes planning, a long term financial investment and a commitment to do the job and do it right. To our public officials, we tip our hats and to the men and women who braved the storm so we could all be safer, our thanks.
