Police make arrests at rave party in Copiague Suffolk County Police Department First Precinct officers arrested 11 people following an investigation at a rave party in Copiague, Saturday, Feb. 17. A rave party is the modern-day version of the after hours Club and generally organized by a promoter who rents warehouse space in an industrial area with a large and out-of-the-way parking lot. The promoter provides the band and advertises over the internet using key or code words to avoid detection by law enforcement. There is an admission charge and partygoers are either sold drugs and alcohol on site, or are allowed to bring their own. "It is a free-for-all event advertised as a place to go, hang out and do whatever you want away from the glare and watchful eye of parents and police," said Det. Sgt. Nailor of the First Precinct. In the Feb. 17 incident officers began investigating the party at the Third Rail Lounge, 1775 Great Neck Road, Copiague, on Saturday, February 17, 2007, and found that liquor was being sold without a license. Arrested for sale of alcohol without a license and permitting unlicensed security guards was Joseph DiGorga Jr., age 36, of 111 East Penn St., Long Beach, who had identified himself as the onsite manager. He was additionally charged with false impersonation for providing false information about his identity to arresting officers. Upon learning his true identity, DiGorga Jr. was charged with three outstanding traffic warrants. Joseph DiGorga Sr., age 66, of 1142A Hicksville Road, Massapequa, was arrested and charged with forgery 2nd degree and permitting unlicensed Security Guards. The liquor license that he presented to the police was found to be a forgery. Both men were held overnight pending arraignment at First District Court, Central Islip, in the morning. Arrested for acting as a security guard without a license and released on station house bail were: Thomas J. Garaci, Ruben D. Tejada, Michael S. McDonald, Mickey W. Forde, and Jeffrey R. Laurice. Arrested for possession of controlled substances and released on bail were: Raymond Stephanek and Jennifer E. Orozco. Arrested for possession of marijuana and issued appearance tickets were: Kelly M. Flynn and John Ziegelhofer.
Police seized as evidence of the illegal sale of alcohol 281 bottles of liquor, 74 cases of beer, 10 kegs of beer, and 1 case of assorted wines.
