Dr. Florence Felberbaum: Longtime Amityville M.D.

Former dedicated Amityville physician Florence Dumanis Felberbaum died in her sleep January 1, 2007 at her home in Boca Raton, Florida. She was 95 years old and had practiced in the south shore community for 38 years.

Born in Massachusetts, she later practiced medicine in Amityville from 1942 to 1980 and was on the staff of Brunswick, Mid-Island and Good Samaritan Hospitals. Doctor Florence, as she was called by her patients, was also on the Planned Parenthood of Suffolk County committee.

According to her son John she lived on Bennett Place in Amityville for more than 38 years and led an exciting life full of world travel. She made a huge difference in the lives of many of her patients whom she devoted herself to.

She leaves behind her children: John and his wife Sheila of Hauppauge, Dr. Donna Schuster and her husband Dr. Brian of Vienna, Virginia; her grandchildren: Lisa and her partner Susan, David and his wife Nancy and Michael and Elizabeth Schuster; her great grandchildren: Avery and Benjamin Ries and Stephanie and Aaron Felberbaum; her sister, Josephine Natelson; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Felberbaum, D.D.S.
