Amityville students benefit from latest music education
Orff instruments also distinguish it from other music education methods. Orff uses xylophones and various "metalophones" that feature removable bars. This allows music educators to change bars for different modes, or to remove unnecessary bars to avoid confusing young students. These instruments also provide greater flexibility for children who have handicaps. The Middle School has received new Orff keyboards to be used in conjunction with the music curriculum, and elementary students around the district are making beautiful music with new their new Orff instruments. In addition, members of the Amityville music department continue to receive special staff development sessions and training through Hofstra University.
Shown in the photo are Park Avenue students, enjoying a music class with their new Orff instruments.
