Fifth Avenue School welcomes author

Fifth Avenue School kicked off its community service campaign with a special guest author, Ray Negron. All the way from the Bronx, he came to share a story with the students and relate a tale of people helping people, and courage through adversity. These are the lessons learned by readers of The Boy of Steel: A Baseball Dream Come True. Negron, from the New York Yankee Organization, writes a touching story of the strength of a young boy struggling with cancer. His dream to become a batboy for his favorite team is realized and the courage of this hero is quite inspirational. Ironically, Negron was also a Yankee batboy in his youth through the kindness of George Steinbrenner. "The Boss" actually caught the teenager spraying graffiti on the stadium wall. Ray's life was turned around when the franchise owner invited him to become a batboy for the world famous ball club. All proceeds from the book sales go directly to cancer research.
