Senator Fuschillo announces applications for Correction Officers

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced that his office has applications available for a new hiring exam for prospective Correction Officers. The exam, which will be held on April 14, is offered by the New York State Department of Correctional Services and will be conducted under the auspices of the New York State Department of Civil Service. Applications to take the exam must be postmarked by February 26.

"A career with the Department of Corrections offers many challenges and rewards, and I urge all men and women who are interested in becoming a Correction Officer to get more information on this upcoming exam," said Senator Fuschillo.

Correction Officers serve throughout New York State in various facilities of the Department of Correctional Services. They are responsible for the custody and security, as well as the safety and well being, of criminal offenders in State Correctional Facilities. Correction Officers also play a key role in the rehabilitative process for inmates.

To obtain an application, along with a Correction Officer fact sheet, which briefly describes the salary and benefits available to employees serving in Correction Officer positions, an exam announcement, and a map of state correctional facilities, please call Senator Fuschillo's Office at 516- 546-4100 or visit the Department of Correctional Services website at www.docs.state.ny.us.
