TOB announces Assessor's office extended hours

Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone announced today that the Town Assessor's office will extend its hours of operation beginning Monday, January 29, 2007. Office hours will be from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day of extended hours will be Thursday, March 1, 2007, which is the deadline for all applications. "We are committed to doing everything we can to make the application process easier for the Town's property owners," stated Bellone.

Each year, hundreds of property owners come through the doors of Town Hall so that they can physically turn in their applications for Real Property tax exemptions. "We are extending office hours to assist Town of Babylon residents with the application process. The increased hours give everybody a bit more flexibility," stated Assessor Michael Bernard.

Bernard published a booklet entitled Do you qualify for a Real Property Tax Exemption in the Town of Babylon? The booklet outlines exemptions and their respective eligibility criteria that are available for Town of Babylon Real Property owners. To get a copy of the publication or for further information, you can contact the Assessor's Office at (631) 957-3014 or log on to the Town website www.townofbabylon.com. The booklet is located under the forms section of the website, where residents can also download the necessary tax exemption forms.

All approved applications will see their exemption on their December 2007 tax bill.
