Amityville athlete high scorer at Holiday Hoops Festival

Amityville High School athlete Andrew Ayodeji was the high scorer at the Aviator Holiday Hoops Festival held December 26-29. St. Francis Prep came out on top when eight of the area's top boys high school basketball teams competed in 12 exciting basketball games at the new Aviator Sports & Recreation megasports complex in Brooklyn.

Amityville played with teams from St. Francis Prep, Frederick Douglass Academy, Tilden H.S., St. John's Prep, New Utrecht H.S., Poly Prep and St. Edmund Prep in the tourney, formerly known as the Monsignor King Flatlands High School Basketball Tournament.

St.Francis Prep was the tournament's winner. Michael Cavataio of St. Francis Prep took home the MVP honors.

Amityville's Ayodeji was joined on the All-Tournament team by Ashton Pascal (Tilden H.S.); Justin Newton (Poly Prep); Roberto Deleo; Shelton Larson (Frederick Douglass Academy); Keith Mandin (St. Francis Prep); and Calvin Mack (Frederick Douglas Academy).

St. Francis Prep's road to the title started with a 75-46 win over Tilden H.S. and 64-35 route of Poly Prep in the semi-final. They defeated Frederick Douglass Academy for the championship, holding FDA to just 10 first half points before closing the game (62-39), and snagging the first championship title in the Aviator Holiday Hoops Festival.
