Jack Whalen, 90: son of former Lindenhurst Village Mayor

Longtime Lindenhurst native and retired U.S. Army Sgt., Jack Whalen, died December 28, 2006 in Camarillo, California. He was 90 years old and the son of former Lindenhurst Village Mayor John Whalen, who was in office from 1937 to 1948.

Born and raised on Albany Avenue in Lindenhurst, he was a decorated veteran who served in both the Korean War and World War II. He was retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Mr. Whalen leaves behind his son, Bruce of Mammoth Lake, California; his grandchildren; his great grandchildren; his brother, Rod of Amityville; as well as other loved ones and friends.

Cremation services were private.
