VFW Post 7223 donates phone cards to service personnel overseas

On December 28, 2006, members of VFW Post 7223 of Amityville donated 250 phone cards to Commander Schneider of The Navy Operational Support Center, Amityville. The commanding officer will distribute 200 cards to appropriate service personnel overseas. The other 50 cards will go to stateside service people, including hospitalized personnel.

In appreciation of the VFW's donation, Commander Schneider presented an Iraqi flag to the John J. Kreyer VFW Post 7223 of Amityville. The flag is of the newly formed Iraqi government.

Suffolk County Police Sergeant John Jax assisted in the ceremony and is a member of the Suffolk County Police Veterans Association. Sgt. Jax offered the members of VFW Post 7223 membership in the Police Veterans Association.
