Henry Imbert: Grandfather of Amityville Mayor

Former Amityville resident and decorated World War II veteran Henry A. Imbert died December 28, 2006 at the age of 85 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is the father of Richard C. Imbert, owner of the American Professional insurance agency in Amityville, and the grandfather of Amityville Village Mayor Peter T. Imbert.

Born April 6, 1921 in New York City, Mr. Imbert later lived in Jackson Heights, Queens and on South Gaylore Drive in Amityville from 1954 to 1961. After moving to Homestead, Florida and losing his home to hurricane Andrew, he and his wife relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Imbert was a retired first lieutenant and pilot for the U.S. Army Air Force who later worked as a sales executive. He was a coin collector, a member of the American Numismatic Society and a "computer wiz" according to his daughter-in-law, Susan.

Mr. Imbert leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Patricia; his children; Richard C. and his wife Susan of Bay Shore; his grandson, Peter and his wife Diane of Amityville; his granddaughters: Cynthia Tunney and her husband Frank of Amityville and Elise of Bay Shore; his great grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephen, Julia, Mark, Diana and Alexandra; his sisters, Hilda and Edna Llamas of Miami, Florida, as well as other loved ones and friends.

Mr. Imbert reposed at the Tillman Funeral Home in West Palm Beach on January 4, 2007. A Funeral Mass was held January 5, 2007 at Mary Immaculate R.C. Church in West Palm Beach followed by interment in Southern Memorial Park in North Miami, Florida.
