Jones Beach Power Squadron to offer course

The Jones Beach Power Squadron (a unit of the United States Power Squadrons) will offer its five-week Squadron Boating Course. Registration will be held 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the first class begins 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28 at Massapequa High School, 4925 Merrick Rd., Massapequa in cafeteria room 141.

For the general public, the course helps boaters becomes familiar with boat handling, boating equipment, trailering, Federal and State Boating Regulations, Navigation, Marine Radio and Personal Watercraft (PWC).In addition, the Young Boaters Course, a New York State certified course, will be offered for boaters ages 11 to 15. Graduates of both classes are given completion certificates including the PWCendorsement (required in New York State) and may be eligible for reduced boat insurance rates.

All Jones Beach Power Squadron instructors have been certified by the USPS.
