Retired New York State Trooper John F. "Jack" Burns who lived inLindenhurst for many years died July 31, 2007 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. He was 72 years old. Born May 7, 1935 in Brooklyn to Harold and Elsie (Haerer), he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. For 40 years he lived in Lindehurst.
