Entrepreneur Carl E. Fuchs, who was a talented singer, interior designer, landscaper, hotelier and restraunteur, died at his Trenton, New Jersey home on July 31, 2007. He was 73 years old and was an Amityville High School graduate, class of 1951.

According to his relatives, he shared his love and spirit with his beloved family and friends. That same spirit led him to undertake many successful ventures in his lifetime.

Born in Amityville on October 21, 1933 to Carl and Edith, he worked at his family's restaurant, the Narragansett Inn, sang with the First United Methodist Church choir and performed with the Amityville Gilbert & Sullivan society.

During his time in college at Cornell, he sang with the Cayuga Waiters and then attended Juilliard School of music studying choral directing. After serving in the Navy as chaplain's assistant, he started his career in the hotel, restaurant and interior design businesses with his own endeavor, "Interior One," where he had several successful private clients such as pianist George Shearing.

In 1975 he created The Palms restaurant on the island of St. Kitts and later a hotel on its Banana Bay, where he remained for 12 years. After moving to Princeton, New Jersey in 1988, he began a new caree- landscaping and gardening- and was successful for 16 years until he retired.

Mr. Fuchs, who lived in the New Jersey area for the past 23 years, loved to cook, garden and decorate and was an active member of the Princeton United Methodist Church choir.

He leaves behind his partner, Barry Richards; his siblings: Robert L. and his wife Jeanne of Ft. Myers, Florida and Elizabeth Fillo and her husband Chris Coucill of Princeton, New Jersey; four nephews; five grand nephews; and three grand nieces; as well as many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Princeton United Methodist Church, 7 Vandeventer Ave. Princeton, New Jersey. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
