Former Amityville resident John W. "Jack" Cheviot died June 1, 2007 at Bowling Green Healthcare in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was 85 years old. Born October 23, 1921 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Sydney and Marie (Merk), he was a proud U.S. Marine who served in World War II in the Pacific Theater.
