Christmas trees wanted for TOB Dune Preservation Program

The Town of Babylon announced the Christmas Tree Dune Preservation Program. This program was created to preserve the 9/11 Hometown Memorial. The Town is asking all residents to bring their Christmas trees (with all ornaments removed) to the Overlook Beach Parking lot on January 6, 2007 between 9 a.m. and noon.

Volunteers, under the guidance of the TOB Environmental Department, will place the Christmas trees around the 9/11 Hometown Memorial to cre-

ate a protective dune to preserve the site naturally. “It is imperative that the residents of the Town of Babylon participate in this program", said Deputy Supervisor Ellen McVeety. "We have created a beautiful memorial to honor those who died on 9/ 11 and now our entire town can assist with helping us to preserve this memorial site.”

If residents have any questions they can contact Deputy Supervisor Ellen McVeety’s office at 631- 957-3081.
