Suffolk County Office of Aging offers information to those age 60 and older

Kathleen Platt, case-work supervisor from Suffolk County Office of Aging joined Dominican Village on Tuesday, November 28 with information to share with all senior citizens who reside in Suffolk County.

Suffolk County Office of Aging is responsible for coordinating a network of services available to seniors who are over the age of 60. These services include social, recreational and assistance programs. The goal of these programs and services is to allow individuals to live independently and actively in their communities. The Office of Aging contracts with municipal and community based agencies and administer a variety of programs and services. These services and programs include: Adult Day Care, benefits counseling, caregiver services, Case Management, discount I.D. cards, health insurance information, counseling, employment assistance, legal assistance, residential repair, respite services, transportation and Ombudservice (Advocacy for residents of Long Term Care Facilities). The County also offers these programs if you qualify: EPIC (Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Company), HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), Nutrition Program (Congregate and home delivered meals) and Medicare/Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Prevention.
