Amityville Soccer ends season On Sunday, November 12, the U-14 Baymen continued on their quest for an undefeated season with a 3-1 win over the Commack Competition. Great defense by brothers Art and Jake Morales, superb goaltending by Matt Drutjons and Matt Graham, and goals by Kevin Pastora, Ron Cabos, and Victor Sanchez were showing all “the way to go!” The Baymen reached their quest with a 4-1 victory over St. Elizabeth the following week. Mike Neville, Victor Sanchez and Ronald Cabos all scored and there was great goaltending by Matt Drutjons and Brian Kretz. In a tense, hard-fought game, in the rain, the Amityville Stingrays (U-12) dropped a 1-0 decision to the St. Elizabeth Cheetahs. Intense defensive play by Emily Brennan, JoJo Hernandez, Gabby LoDico and unbelievable goalkeeping by Caroline Tofalli kept the Cheetahs at bay for much of the game. Tight midfield play by Imani Johnson and Sarah “Tony” Blotiau kept the Stingrays in the game right up to the final whistle. In what has been a season of remarkable growth, the Amityville Stingrays hold their heads high after playing stride for stride with one of the best teams in the league. The Gunners (U-13) lost a squeaker to Plainedge 1-0, but avenged the season with a 2-1 victory over 3rd place Bellmore. Steve Sison set up Anthony Vasquez for the first goal and Dylan Rosser’s persistence on attack paid off with the game winner near the end of the match. Coach Nick Rosser’s years of practice is finally showing with the team making beautiful passes and a defense that is almost impenetrable. The U-9 Falcons continued their unbeaten streak in a rain-soaked, shortened contest improving their record to 8-0-1. Michael Trant on offense and Bryan Reynolds in goal held off the Falcons until midway through the first half when Austin Quinn scored twice to give them a 2-0 lead. Katherine Eastwood was relentless at left wing and made it 3-0 off her own rebound. Niklas Coles had another shutout in goal, Carly Viverito continued to improve on defense and Anna Gribbon was her usual force at right wing.
The Falcons played their final game of the season winning 7-3. It was an exciting contest against a strong opponent whose team featured outstanding play by Megan Graham, Brian Scott and Chris Moffat. Austin Quinn got the Falcons off to a fast start with a quick score and Johnny Grahn put it away with five goals.
