New York Islanders join food rescue to provide meals this holiday season

New York Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro, left, along with Head Coach Ted Nolan and General Manager Garth Snow, recently joined Island Harvest, Long Island’s Source Authority on Food Rescue, at a community food drive in Carle Place as part of Island Harvest’s annual Turkey and Trimmings Campaign to help provide warm, nutritious meals to those in need this holiday season.

Families and individuals can also support the campaign, which runs through December 24, by stopping by one of the numerous supermarket food collection events, bringing nonperishable food donations to local drop-off locations including Citibank, The Bristal Assisted Living, and Panera Bread (frozen turkeys only), donating a turkey or their supermarket turkey coupon. Monetary contributions are also welcome to help support Island Harvest’s year-round food donation programs. Events will take place throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties during the campaign, and locations may be found online at www.islandharvest.org. or by calling 516-294-8528.
