Police seek public’s help in apprehending two charged with larcenies

Amityville Police Department and Crime Stoppers are asking the public’s assistance to identify a man who worked in concert with another to steal various men’s toiletries.

On several occasions, two unknown males have entered various supermarkets with a shopping cart and a plastic bag. The suspects proceed to place items such as razors and aspirin into their pockets and the plastic bag.

The first suspect is described as a white male, possibly of Middle Eastern descent, 35-40 years old, well dressed. The second suspect is described as a black male, in his early 40s, wearing a baseball cap and glasses.

Police are hoping that someone can identify the white male caught in the surveillance photos on August 16, 2006, from a Stop and Shop supermarket, located at 351 Merrick Road, Amityville, or provide the identity of the black male suspect also wanted in connection with these larcenies.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
