NYC School decision was right It was good to read that the state's Appellate Court was bold and wise in reducing the whopping millions the lower court ordered the state to give New York City Schools for renovating its school facilities. Surely this will put the state in a better bargaining position, and hopefully lead to a more reasonable settlement. While New York City is in dire need of funding to upgrade its crumbling facilities, and has legitimate concerns about its ability to provide a decent education to New York's students, its local taxpayers continue to contribute a mere pittance toward their schools. And, a marginal real estate property tax increase levied several years ago was cut without any concern for the monies needed to do what we
here in Suffolk have done for decades-pay dearly to provide our children with a sound education and beautiful schools. For once the courts got it right.
