OLG did help healing begin after arrest of former priest

An editorial in last week's edition referred to the fact that no mention of the child pornography charges of a former priest at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church in West Babylon, Father Tom Saloy, was made during the homily at each Mass that week, and that the only reference to the incident was to describe it as "the tragedy that has befallen our community."

In fact, a statement was read by Msgr. Vincent Rush, Our Lady of Grace Pastor, prior to each Mass that week, and specifically outlined the charges made against Father Saloy.

We're pleased to hear that such a statement was made, and apologize if our editorial mislead any of our readers and members of that Church. We are also happy to hear that the issue, according to Msgr. Rush, was addressed forthrightly and factually because we believe that only then can the healing begin.
