Erma Mae Duryea: former Grumman employee, 85

Longtime Amityville resident and former Grumman Aerospace employee, Erma Mae Duryea, died November 1, 2006 at Broadlawn Manor Nursing in Amityville. She was 85 years old.

Born May 9, 1921 in Macungie, Pennsylvania to Reuben and Lottie (Wenner) Lorish, she was later employed by Bethpage-based Grumman in the food services department.

In addition to caring for her husband and children, she was a devoted longtime member of the Simpson United Methodist Church in Amityville.

Mrs. Duryea leaves behind her sons: George B., Jr. and his wife Joyce of Amityville and Bruce H. and his wife Debbie of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren: Jeffrey, George A. and Bruce M. Duryea

and Denise Ubert; her great grandchildren: Jacqueline, Christopher and Daniel Ubert and Brittany, Heather and Gabrielle Duryea; her eight sisters and one brother; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George B. in 1965.

Rev. Jack Polin, pastor, Simpson United Methodist Church officiated at the funeral service held at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on November 5, 2006. She was interred November 6, 2006 in The Long Island National Cemetery.
