The Sister's Network of Suffolk Co. help those with cancer

The Sister's Network of Suffolk Co. is headed by an 11-year survivor who lives in Massapequa, Linda Hart. She, her husband Warren and her children have all graduated from Amityville High School. She is a class leader and vocalist who sings and serves at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Amityville/ Copiague. She is fighting cancer every day and helping others overcome the fear, fatigue of chemo and stress, plus she is extending a helping hand to those who are lacking in knowledge or medical assistance.

Recently, her group got together with the Nassau County group at a brunch buffet to announce the changing of the organization's name. The Suffolk group was changed to The Sisters of Greater Long Island and the Nassau County group was changed to The Sisters Greater New York, headed by Wilma Carroll of Garden City. The 400 in attendance were served at the Sterling, 345 Hicksville Rd., Bethpage under the direction of Barry Grohosky, general manager and coordinating efforts of the group's Ellen Holliday.

The guest speaker was Dr. Robin L. Smith, who has been frequently seen on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She is a licensed psychologist and has written two books, Inspirational Vitamins, A Guide to Personal Empowerment and Lies at the Altar - The Truth About Great Marriages. Her topic was Surviving Thriving and Reviving. The M.C. was Sister's Network's own Kene Holliday, actor and evangelist and the 400 in attendance were lead in prayer by Rev. Victoria Boyd, former pastor of Simpson's Methodist church in Amityville. Eva Crews, of Amityville, sang My Living Shall Not Be In Vain

and the praise team was lead by Bethel's dance director Angelin Pyatt Thomas.
