Mary P. Myton Literary Society meets at Walt Whitman birthplace

The Mary P. Myton Literary Society met Wednesday, October 18 at the birthplace of Walt Whitman in Melville. A tour of the home and grounds and a video of his poems were provided by the staff of the museum.

A meeting followed presided over by Ellen Ricciuti in the absence of the president, Sue Martinson. Ricciuti thanked Sharyn Vetter for arranging the meeting and Mary Reilly, Ruth Ruberl, Gina Brown and Caroline D'Antonio for providing the refreshments. Jeanette Hendersen was congratulated on assisting Seth Purdy, curator of The Lauder Museum for compiling the information for the book, Images of Amityville. The Society welcomed a new member, Dorothy Main.

The next meeting will be at the home of Florence Bell on Wednesday, November 15 and all were reminded to bring their favorite poem or story pertaining to Thanksgiving.
