Yanks loss is a big win for baseball
The avid Yankee fans and baseball pundits will be analyzing the sorry plight of the Bronx Bombers in 2006 for years to come. They will have a lot more insight and more to say than we ever could here, but an observation we will not let pass is this. After all is said and done, baseball is still a game, a contest between players whose performance is measured, not in the value of their contracts, but in their spirit, commaraderie, chemistry and outlook. The Yankee's embarrassing loss this year is actually a victory for the game itself. It reinforces the value of those intangible attributes that make up a championship team, and keeps the game unpredictable, vital, exciting and interesting. |
