Margaret Meyer: dedicated Mother & Grandmother
Amityville resident Margaret Meyer died September 24, 2006 at her home. She was 98-years-old and had lived in Queens Village, as well as in Brooklyn.
She was born in Milford, Massachusetts to John and Hannah (Manion) Ollis and later dedicated her life to her husband and children as a homemaker. She lived on Broadway in Amityville for the last 12 years.
In her spare time, she was an avid reader who also loved to play dominoes and checkers according to her daughter, Margaret Briggs.
Mrs. Meyer leaves behind her children: Margaret, Frank, Henry, Frances and Gladys; her grandchildren: JoAnn, James and Rosanne, Louis Jr., Margaret and Richard, Jeanne and Greg, Dennis, William F., Jeffrey, Gary and Alice, Christine, Kathryn and Janice; her 19 great grandchildren; and seven great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry.
A prayer service was conducted on September 26, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville. Father Richard Stelter, pastor of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, officiated at a Mass of Christian Burial on September 27, 2006 assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family.
